As soon as I read Sarah's article today I could feel my mother yanking a comb through my thick, "rat's nest" hair all over again. She was not gentle, and actually seemed to think that the faster she ran that comb through my hair the better.
My daughter has a graduated bob style, and even though it is not super long she still gets tangles here and there--especially when she gets out of the tub or goes swimming. Rubbing with a towel makes things worse.
The products I find the most helpful for this are It's A 10 sprayed on before I even get a comb near her wet head, and Paul Mitchell's Awapuhi Moisture Mist for dry tangles. In the morning before school, I will spray the Awapuhi on those fuzzy nests that seem to multiply through the night and then comb through. Because it's moisturizing, it always leaves her hair soft as well.
